Biography

Workshop held at Entragues, France

I was founder/director of Performing Arts at Leicester Polytechnic, then De Montfort University together with three colleagues.

Since leaving DMU in 1999 I have created post-graduate degrees at Hull University’s Scarborough Campus, York St John University, and Leeds Metropolitan University, where I am  retained to teach the Critical Contexts course for both under and post-graduate courses.

I also teach and supervise Phd students at the University of the Arts, London, specifically Central St Martins’ MA in Performance Design and Practice and have  examined Phds at a variety of universities. I am co-author of The Twentieth Century Performance Reader, and author of Tadeusz Kantor, both published by Routledge. I’ve  been on the Jury of the Oman Film Festival and am  a member of the Artistic Board of the Sibiu International Festival, Romania.

I am a founder director of Arts Interlink, London, a consortium of consultants specializing in international projects dealing with Cultural Policy and Arts Management,  at present particularly with China. I am also currently on the board of the Richard Demarco Archive Trust, Edinburgh, Third Angel Theatre, Sheffield, and the Centre for Performance Research, Aberystwyth.
